Immediate priorities
Save the complete app trip before it disappears from the active screen: driver and vehicle details, pickup, destination, route, receipt, timestamps, messages, and support reference. Also collect the ordinary crash information for every vehicle and insurer involved.
Evidence and records
Keep screenshots and exported receipts, but retain original email and app records as well. Preserve photographs, police information, witness contacts, medical instructions, personal auto policies, platform communications, and any statement about whether the driver was offline, waiting, matched, traveling to pickup, or carrying a passenger.
People and organizations to identify
The driver, vehicle owner, another motorist, rideshare company, delivery platform, employer, and several insurers may have separate roles. Available coverage can depend on verified app status and state law; the presence of an app decal does not answer that question.
Questions for an Injury Law Firm
- How will the firm secure and interpret app status records?
- Which personal, commercial, and platform policies may require notice?
- Does the firm distinguish rideshare, delivery, taxi, and ordinary driving relationships?
- What should be preserved before a phone or app account changes?
State law still controls
Deadlines, shared fault, public entity procedures, insurance systems, workers’ compensation, waivers, and evidentiary rules vary. Use the relevant state page and ask a licensed lawyer to identify the governing law from the verified facts.
